The design options for this 100-storey tower on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road was led by the inherent 1:13 height to ratio width with special attention paid to the integration of the structure within the architectural design, to create an optimised and efficient design.
The ‘external lateral support’ is very effective and reduces the need for extremely thick shear walls with obtrusive hammerheads on the end, reducing the window openings, which would be the case if there was no external bracing. This is further emphasised due to the Dubai Municipality changing the wind speed from 38m/s to 45m/s a year ago.
The design options show the structural solution blending into the architecture making the building unique in Dubai’s urban landscape, freeing up space inside the building and adding efficiency.
This 385m high residential building comprises a total of 981 apartments – a mix of studio, one-, two-, three- and four bedroom apartments. The associated car park includes over a thousand parking bays.
